Built at the bench, not the boardroom

It's not Magic. It's Chemistry.

MAI-Alchemy is the analytical-data platform and expertise of Medrado Analytical Innovations, LLC — software, method development, and technical work built by an analytical chemist who has spent his career solving the problems the numbers don't explain.

Who's behind it

Medrado Michael Leal has spent more than three decades in petrochemical laboratories — running, troubleshooting, and improving the instruments that keep refineries honest. He started as a lab analyst with an AAS in Chemical Engineering Technology, later earned a BA in Chemistry, and worked his way up by doing the thing most people won't: understanding the instrument all the way down, so the data can be trusted.

Along the way he became a specialist in gas chromatography and analytical method development, an ASTM committee member who works alongside the authors of the methods the industry runs on, and an inventor with patent-pending work in how chromatographic data can be read as molecular structure. He also writes — a long-running series of essays for analysts, and a book, Inertia: The Philosophy.

"I'm not smart enough to know that won't work — so I'm going to try."

Why MAI-Alchemy exists

Most analytical innovation is aimed at big labs and big budgets. MAI-Alchemy is aimed at the individual — the chemist at the bench, the small lab, the practitioner who has the judgment but not the team. The belief behind it is simple: modern tools should empower the expert, not replace them. The human is the one with the idea; the software should make that idea reach farther.

What we do

  • Analytical software & tools — reading VUV chromatography data as identity, physical properties, and 3D spectral views (early, exploratory, patent-pending).
  • Method development & consulting — solving real instrument and data problems, grounded in physics and 30 years of scars.
  • Technical editing & review — scientific-accuracy review that a chromatographer can't rebut, with every claim traceable to a source.
  • Writing — articles and the Inertia philosophy, for the analyst who was never taught to tell their own story.
